Paul, this post was intended (I thought sent!) to you, but ended up going to Pigboy instead. Maybe I'm starting to address the wrong people, or myself, like Sonny McWilliams does. <g>. Anyway, I'll copy you.

Paul, Re: " In a prior "life" I used to write technical articles
and documents describing semiconductor technology and reliability -
aimed at a
non-technical/slightly technical audience. That was a lot of fun -
most of the time! "

Was this at Intel, Altera, or both? If at Intel, did you know a reliability
specialist named Bob Bowman?

Tony

Hey, just wanted to congratulate you and the others on making it in April's 1998 isssue of Smart Money!!! If this is old news I apologize for I've been out of town for a few days and have not read up on all the threads I've missed. Interesting article about Silicon Investors, called "Hopefully Devoted".
Sincerely, Randomm

All,
Have I missed something?

Has anyone posted, on this thread, Intel's projection today of 1 Billion PCs connected to the Internet within the next few years?.... ( One Intel spokesman thought within 5 years).

"Such leaps in processing power would help to spark a boom in
the Internet and a rise in the world's PC population to more
than one billion in the next few years, from 200 million now."

Now think about it. That's 500 % growth in 5 years.

Think of all those Servers that are going to be needed to support all these new PCs.

How many PCs, on average, will there be for each required Server?

Why hasn't Tom Kurlak, or the other Wall Street analysts written about these Intel projections? Statements like today's were made by Intel almost a year ago, yet analysts have virtually ignored it.
(See my post last May after attending Intel's analysts meeting)
Regards,
Jules
