Hank, I believe that you are wrong about the FDA only approving drugs that are more effective than drugs already approved. Take a look at the antidepressants, as just one of many examples. There are about 40 approved by the FDA, and they are all equally effective. No study has ever shown one antidepressant to be more effective than another. Prozac, Paxil, and Zoloft also have almost exactly the same side effect profile. They all work by exactly the same mechanism, and are all equally effective. This is just one small example.
