Sheila; Re >CPQ is doing terrible, anything positive to report? <<
I'm still here , long and strong..I'm not ready to fire off my
main salvo yet I want to see the whites of their eyes, & after
that maybe I'll shoot a few in the back.
Just remember,
Shorts can not make money off of you if you don't sell, & you
don't lose real money until you do.
-----------------
The carpetbaggers work this stock over every chance they get,
a draw down and shake out is not new to CPQ..she always comes
back. Weak holders and people on margins get gut, gilled, and
skined, then she is right back up.
That's the history of this stock in a nut shell.

sheila, I take this has good news, also Intel demonstrated a 700mhz Pentium II chip in Europe today (Friday)...it was also reported out of that conference in Europe that there are only 200 million PC users, so there's plenty of room for growth.

Compaq-ting The Industry

Compaq came clean on its inventory woes this week after announcing a
slew of price cuts aimed at thinning out excess stock. The cuts
represent the first serious offering of sub-$1,000 commercial-desktop
systems by a major PC maker. Along the same lines, Compaq also
announced a "small is better" approach to boosting PC sales. Moving
past PCs, the Houston company introduced its first offerings in
e-commerce products, including payment and high-end server products
from its new Tandem Computers unit.

Not to be outdone in the headlines by its future parent company,
Digital Equipment said it will pursue plans to acquire service
providers after Compaq has absorbed Digital in what might be termed a
feeding frenzy of consolidation

Sheila,
You're here too! I was one of the lucky ones who bought CPQ the week before...well...the bulk of the decline in this stock. Had taken a year off from owning CPQ and was waiting for an entry point...32 5/8 seemed ok...

Then thought...aha, a trade for a point in a day...changed mind...well, the rest is history.

I know the feeling of watching the Dow rage and my overall portfolio headed South. I feel like I've been doing that every day for WEEKS!

Oh well,

Linda
