Venkie Congratulations on becoming a pure Dellhead, which you have worked for and deserve. At this time I can still say as I did last spring that I own 80% Dell and 20% junk. That other stuff is like F, glw, nb, bac, and is not truly junk, it just does not produce like Dell. CPQ will be around for some time, obviously become big in the store arena, have a good name there. Since you are nearby (g), you may have a better feel for what they are doing. If it looks good , I might consider some oct or jan 25 or 30 calls which vary from $1.5 to $3 3/4. From my limited experience (< 1 year) with calls I have found (and as others on the thread have pointed out) that the furthur-out calls, with mixed strike prices have done best. As I told Greg, I have drifted a bit away from the techs, and am working on recent stock splits proposed on stuff like LU, CI, MRK, nbty and T. Some of these are not as exciting as Aol, xcit, yhoo, wdc, but they have done very well and provide much calmer nerves. It is of course ( as always) too early to tell the final result as this is one booming stock market which cpq has failed to follow My first venture into calls last spring on wdc and qntm was not a good one, ( it hurts to lose even $400)HeHe), but it was all for the best as I learned to be much more selective about those things. Moving assets from CPQ will not be a loss if you find a company that has a better chance to move up with the market. Good luck to you And next week we may get a chance to go bear hunting. I have planted pumpkins, melons and gourds so if the %&^%$ birds digging in the garden don't eat all the seeds I should have some new gourds in about 120 days(g) Sig
