Level 3 Communications to begin trading on Nasdaq

OMAHA, Neb., March 20 (Reuters) - Level 3 Communications Inc. said it would begin trading on April 1 on the Nasdaq
National Market under the symbol ''LVLT''.

Level 3 is presently a subsidiary of Peter Kiewit Sons Inc. (KIWT - news).

The company said in a statement issued Thursday that the Nasdaq listing would follow the separation of Level 3 and the
construction subsidiary of Peter Kiewit Sons, a move that is expected to be completed on March 31.

Peter Kiewit Class D stock will become the common stock of Level 3 Communications. Level 3, a telecommunications and
information services business, will not make a public offering of its stock in connection with the listing.

Peter Kiewit Sons, based in Omaha, derives most of its revenues from construction. The company is also involved in coal
mining, cable television and computer services.

I spoke to the stock registrar for Kiewit again today. They were supposed to announce the year end book value for D by today, but now there saying it will be announced by next Wednesday. This should postpone the issuance of the new shares to employees by a few more days. With the recent news on LVLT going straight to Nasdaq on April 1, do you think profit taking by employees will have much effect on the price. I'm kind of thinking with all the activity going regarding the listing any profit taking is not going to be that big of a deal.
