,a penny off and this dog will be barking all the way down to the mid 20s.>.

FrankInNYC,

If this guy bites me again, I out for good.

I've owned this company since last summer, and it has been a real pain.
I was told that it was a darling of the street at one time. It's a dog right now.

We are all sitting here waiting for something to bring it down. You can't tell that most (or all) of us have had it with this company.

I think most are just waiting for 40 to 50, and they are out of here.

Joe

I agree that a warning will let us see the 20's again. Please no. As for the bigger picture, there's still a big cloud hanging over tech. Everyone's expecting a Spring correction. Meanwhile, the broader market is roaring in financial services, especially, and those of us overweight technology are losing in opportunity costs. I think we'll see Ascend at 35 again shortly, but it's no fun languishing while the broader market moves. The only things that could derail us would be a Cisco, Microsoft or IBM warning. I'm out at 35 (again) and am going long semiconductor capital equipment (AMAT, KLAC, KLIC).

I thought Ascend had a beta of 2.7 or something? What happened to that?

Matt

Are you kidding me?? With jittery market sentiment on earnings for all tech companies
in upcoming quarters, and Ascend's not-to-solid reputation for making the quarter
numbers (as well as their rocky relationship with analysts), a penny off and this dog will
be barking all the way down to the mid 20s. That's as optimistic as I can get as an
investor long on this one.

1. Ascend does NOT have a reputation for missing earnings.
2. They aren't going to warn! However, if they did, that truly kill the stock for a very very long time. Management knows what the next few quarters mean...they had already announced this is going to be a good year with sequential growth. I can almost guarantee you they will meet or exceed WS expectations!

its funny I looked at the Yahoo thread when I got home...someone has been spreading rumors LU made a hostile bid of $40...and ASND was up $8 in after hours....I had to check my sources quick....So, as far as I can see he could be in deep water?<g> He would be gone from SI in a heartbeat on that one. Sorry to see it was untrue, as far as I know. But $50 would have made it believable....

The sell-down to 25 was overdone and the whole market was down.
Bay announced a poor quarter and rose 3 points. Cabletron merely
mentioned as "working hard" to reverse fortunes, rose 1. Any beginning of weakness will be met with bargain-hunting. Anticipation may bring it down, not the reality. JMO!
