INS: Easing Citizenship Time Costly By CASSANDRA BURRELL Associated Press Writer WASHINGTON (AP) -- Immigration officials say they are working hard to reduce a backlog of 1.5 million immigrants who have waited months and sometimes years to become citizens. Still, reducing the wait to six months will take an additional $82 million, the officials say.
