David,

Thank you for your response. I had gathered that many members are tired of the subject. The filter function may, in fact, be more of an asset to those of us who spend most of our time reading posts rather than writing them. One way to end the debate is to grant the request. I hope that Silicon Investor does. This will remain a superb site even if SI doesn't. Until such time, one might expect that fresh participants will join the debate with arguments that overlap the existing "consensus" and any other expressed opinions.

Actually, some of my suggested 'enhancements' to the kill idea were meant in quasi-jest as well. Here's another, an intentionally provocative addition to the virtual feature set:

Taking a queue from real life, SI might want to use the preview function discussed here as a way to broadcast the status of habitual offenders. I imagine a warning such as "The next poster has been suspended 3 times for abusing the rules of SI and is on the ignore list of 1700 other members"

Of course, some members will see the warning as a reason to avoid the post that follows. To others, it will be an invitation to grab a chair and drink in opinions verboten. That's what freedom of choice is all about.

Regards,
Michael
