Hi Judy,

Positive Volume Index Technical Indicator

Definition

The positive volume index (PVI) focuses on market action during periods of increasing volume. It is calculated opposite of the negative
volume index (NVI), with the percentage change in stock price used only during periods when the volume is rising.

In the past ALTR had never diverged from PVI (in the last 3 years).. but in the last recent upturn the pvi has gone down but the stock has gone up. So, with it's exposure to SEA I thought it might go down before the PVI can reverse.

ALTR is still owned by 95% of funds and XLNX is owned by 90%. So, obviously ALTR is loved more by the institutions. Even with all the recent upturn in semi's and semi equipment I am not convinced about the upturn wrt to fundamentals in the sector. Data I am getting about the health of the sector (these are *not* the reports published by financial houses....I always take them with a grain of salt) is downright bearish with no end insight. My policy is not to bet against my own judgement so that I can sleep well at night. So, I am not making any trades/investments on the long side in semi/equipments.

Regards,

Suresh
