VLAD,good analysis. These are stormy times for Vivus.Everybody is looking at Viagra. " just a few minor side effects " they said on ABC Good Morning America yesterday;" a little headache etc" and " occasionally difficulty in distinguishing colors " .
I love it. Reminds me of my old patient Ernie. ( he presented with a frozen pelvis full of cancer ). I asked " but Ernie haven't you felt bad all this time , to come and see me sooner? ". " well Doc, there was nothing really to worry about"; "just a little difficulty some times in urinating but it was no big deal ".

I see that Viagra is being featured on 20/20 (tonight). Maybe we'll see some mention of MUSE...although at this point in time, I doubt any mention of MUSE will be all that beneficial to terminally ill VVUS shares. Anyway, they'd probably just talk about how Viagra is better. With VVUS hovering near single digits, I think even negative publicity could help the stock :)

<<Pfizer with all their money should be buying up vivus at these prices. They can then do a hostile takeover and totally dominate the ED drug market.>>

Hmmm . . . I suppose you would have advised Henry Ford to buy up the stock of the best buggy whip manufacturers so that he could dominate the transportation industry.

After reading your post, I'm amazed how you come up with Merril Lynch is shorting at 10 3/8 while covering at 10 5/16 at the same time. The fact is you can't tell if someone is shorting or not just by looking who's at the bid and ask side. Although level II quote gives you the house name and bid and ask sizes stacked up on both side, it doesn't tell you if a trade is a short sell or simply frustrated investor trying to dump their shares. The psychological support for VVUS is in the mid 9's right now and I think short sellers have done a good job supportting(covering) this stock at that level. The way this stock has been moving in the past few weeks, hardly any big boys have been accumulating this stock.

Regards,

Jon

P.S. I am neither long or short in this stock, merely observing.
