You are right and I'd say being on margin today is down right dumb. The market doesn't have 5% to grow according to most year end estimates. A bank CD will get you as much as the forecast for 1998, good time to be in cash, definitely not margined.

Mark, I agree, if people who now buy on the dips get scared out of the market at some point it will be scary. That's why I only invest in top companies that always overcome short-term company specific problems. These type companies are also the first to rebound from a weak market (remember those?).
