PETE!
An off the charts day!!! Even the part about the neighbor is a great story--although one wonders what kind of manners that woman has that she couldn't wait a few hours to try to save your souls. I suppose when God spoke, it probably didn't occur to her to argue about His timing. Wouldn't you think that God would be a bit more sensitive about etiquette though? He ought to know that conversions rarely take place before someone has had his morning coffee.

Now the SCRIPT! That's just flat out sensational!!!! What a validation. I'm sure Helyn knows she can write. But to have such a response from people who write checks is a whole different matter. And I would break out the Dom Perignon except that you all drank it along with everything else in the place. Please send her a most heartfelt congratulations from DAR.

But then--on top of everything else that had happened--Macho Man Savage!!! You realize that it was very obviously you and not Luke who was most excited about this encounter. No-don't deny it. Kids are a great cover for our own juvenile enthusiasms and behaviors.
Although I've never heard of MachoMan, I appreciate the emotion. Once at a piano concert, Van Cliburn (who lives in Fort Worth and was attending not performing)was walking up the aisle at intermission and smiled right at me and nodded. And once at a Mavericks game, James Donaldson said hello to me as he was warming up. These are great moments.
One of my favorite stories-and I believe I wrote about it on another thread once when the discussion was how depressing and negative life is -is about an American who was held hostage in Iran for a very long time. He kept a log of his days, rating at the end of each on a scale of one to ten. The amazing thing was the large number of 8-9-10 days he had. There were very few "bad" days. A walk, a kind gesture by a guard, a glimpse of a flower...he found something to lift each day. That story influenced me greatly-as I believe that happiness is a choice for most of us and too often we choose to view life from the wrong perspective.
So if MachoMan helped turn your day into a 10, then we can only rejoice.
