no, that would be right...you could do a short strangle (but strangle is not defined as short sides...it is defined by the postion of the strikes you use...and then what you do with them...shorting or buying but you have to do the same for both sides)(or a short strangle might actually go by another name...dont know about that)

and you are right it is VERY RISKY

i get shivers down my spine thinking of what you could lose on that...

or you can do a long strangle...if you think the stock is going to be volatile
