Steve:

Winstar (or any millimeter wave broadband wireless provider) will confront the same issue when deploying a multipoint architecture.

Steven- a couple of issues. Winstar is still mostly a reseller- they have very few point to point links up. They don't yet have any point to multipoint links. Don't look to them for hints as to what a wireless hub system can do- they don't have one.

Winstar are looking at big buildings in Manhattan. They are selling data links and phone service. That has nothing to do with small scale one way internet services and video. CVUS could do what WInstar is doing, 28GHz is better spectrum, but they are not and you need a lot of money for expensive point to point links (CVUS's last bond issue was for $1 M, not $650 M!).

Getting into Manhattan office buildings is not easy, the owners of the buildings are not the friendliest landlords in the world.
