It appears that the SOX is in a Bear phase and this last
rally was nothing more than a rally within a bear market for
tech stocks. Look at the Techs stocks, despite the huge run in
the DOW and NAZ, most big name techs have gone nowhere or down.
INTC,MOT,CPQ,COMS and IBM,just to name a few. If we get a correction in the indices what going to happen to the SOX and Tech stocks ?

Hi Iq, From where I was sitting, that's what it looked like, a short squeeze. Yesterday, most of the stocks that I trade did very little. I have noticed over the last few days of this runup, that more than half of the most actives in NY have been down, a situation that is rather curious considering what the averages are saying.
I'll keep my eyes on your #'s, thanks.
cheers, russell

Ike, Getcher, Chuck, Tim, Bart and all other Ideas components:
It is nice to be back here. I just returned from my motherland India. All are doing well here. In India there was an election and as
predicted nothing meaningful happened. Of course reality is becoming a norm. Now Indian politics has turned from caste based one to
religion based one. This change of tune is mainly due to squeeze on
those who held control on castist politics. This alternative
as they aim for is to mask the castism and hence bring religion as
a weapon. But time will tell that this alternative is much more vicious than the previous one. One small consolation that I will have
is that my father and myself have decided to establish a small
educational trust to provide scholarships to a few kids in my
high school.
On the economic front: Bombay market will start moving up as the
new government has better following in the press and understanding
with big business. Previous finance minister tried hard to curtail
the black money circulation (which is approximately 30% of Indian money circulation). But all those crooks kept their money in valet and let
the money flow dry in India. That created a large let down in a few
sectors like finance, realestate, and transportation. I think this
new government will look aside and money flow will start back to normal.

Now that Bull is running with new vigor what will be the forecast for the remaining 9 months of 1999? As NPR put it yesterday "what will we be doing for the rest of the year if we reach the 9300 mark predicted by Abby Cohen? Or will it be hitting 9500 or even Accompara (sp?)'s 10000 mark?
