Jethro, and All,

thaistocks.com also have an e-mail list. They are favouring small caps for a long time already. Probably a good idea. I just don't have the time to follow Thailand in particular. Regarding EmMa's I'm more familiar with Russia and look to concentrate my efforts there. In fact, I'm neglecting this board unduly, for which I apologize, but I cannot commit as much time to SI as I used to. Hope it will change again.

Thanks for your note, best greetings to all,

Thomas

My broker in Hong Kong saved me a bundle tonight, so I'm telling the world. I hope I'm not starting to sound like a billboard, as this is only the second time I've posted to this forum, and the second time I've recommended someone that did a good job for me.

I've been using TISCO in Hong Kong to execute trades on the Jakarta Stock Exchange, as well as in Thailand. They're owned by Banker's Trust and a Thai bank. Trading Indonesia lately has been tough because of the volatility of the currency, the Indonesian Rupiah. The banks quote a big spread between what they'll buy and sell rupiah at, especially when you're dealing in transactions below $100,000. TISCO has been buying rupiah for me, and they treat my money like it's their own. On two occasions, they've fought over the spread with the bank, saving me about $1700 in the process.

Their brokerage commissions are very reasonable, too, typically 1% or less, a lot lower than what U.S. brokers charge to trade Asian stocks.

TISCO trades the following markets: Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Philippines, Jakarta, and Canada. I HIGHLY recommend them, for their integrity, service and fair price.

If you're going to use them, however, you should be fairly well capitalized and know what you want to buy and sell. I've been dealing with Ms. Nina and Mr. Praf and Mr. Kampol, and their phone number is (852) 2868 9023.
