D. Chapman,
thank you for your current and future research on the land drillers. I am heavily into UTI right now and feel it is poised for a run back to the mid 20's. Any feeling you could get from UTI on how the quarter is going and what percentage of gas v. oil they do would be appreciated. Also, they announced a share buyback program las earnings announcement. i was wondering if you could ask them if they have, indeed, purchased any shares back to this date and to what extent if they would tell you. Thanks again and if you wouldn't mind please send any info you get to me directly by responding to this post so as I don't miss your response in the hundreds of posts on this thread weekly. Thanks again.

D.,
Thanks for the offer. Another question I'd be interested in knowing when you call the companies is not just the % rig utilization, but the length of contracts and whether the dayrates are trending up, staying flat or falling. Might also be useful to find out where their fleet is located, dayrates in those areas and whether they are moving rigs from one locale to another.

D - Welcome on board and thanks for your offer. If you can do it in spreadsheet column style, we should be able to read the info better. Another company to be included for land is GW.

Land Driller Consolidators
NBR
PTEN
UTI
GW
BDI

Info important to know:

1. Total number of rig in fleet

2. # of rig for gas
Utilization rate for #2
Average current dayrate for #2
Falling, rising or flat vs last month
How many contract up for renewal in 3 months

3. # of rig for oil
Utilization rate for #3
Average current dayrate for #3
Falling, rising or flat vs last month
How many contract up for renewal in 3 months

I doubt they are willing to give out all these info. Some companies may though.

Thanks in advance - D

Baird - if you call PTEN IR they will send you a chart listing all their rigs and locations. I don't know if other land drillers have similar charts. However, they don't list dayrate or contact terms unlike the water drillers.
