I2, Re: Galvin's salary:

>>The company said portions of the bonus were earned in each of these years under the Motorola Executive Incentive Plan for performance during that year.<<

Oh, I'd love to see that benchmark. Maybe the vending machines at HQ were kept stock at 80% of capacity or something.

>>Motorola granted Galvin, 47, a stock option covering 80,000 shares of Motorola common stock with a strike price of $64.66 a share for all options that expire November 26, 2007.<<

The way things are going, we can plan on seeing those puppies expire. No problem!!

Seriously, though, why in the world are those options granted w/ an expiration date so far into the future? It seems that if they are going to be so broad, they might as well just give Galvin cash now and save on the paperwork later. Granting options under those kind of terms does little to further shareholder value.

>>The proxy did not give specific details as to why Galvin was given a raise.<<

That can probably be translated as, "Hey, don't look at us - we can't justify it, either."

It just doesn't get any better than this.
