Steve,

I received a note from an AMEX market maker who tells me that on the AMEX, the auto exercise amount is $.25. But you should still ask your broker what they have for an auto exercise limit on an individual account holder. I wonder if these can be different amounts? The OCC says it is up to the broker, so if the exchange auto's at .25 and the broker says to you it's $.75 or even $.50..... who gets the proceeds?
