I would think that applies too buyers to for who would you buy your shares from if not a seller. I disagree with your analysis and know that most TRADERS use short selling as part of their business. As in anything else you must know when to use it. That mean not trying to pick tops. A smart Shorter unlike his Buyer cousin knows when he enters his trade at what point he will decide he has made a mistake and get out. They do not hold on forever secure in the knowledge that they haven't lost until they sell. They move on to another opportunity while the long sits and waits and prays.
