Here is the IBM announcement. Over in the ANCR folder, we have been using a number like $30 mil for each OEM. I think in the last quarter, CMNT said they did 2.2 mill with the Ultranet - don't quote me. Basically, this allows you to scale storage a TB cabinet at a time, while still maintaining your old ESCON storage. The CNT products, which provide high-speed connectivity between IBM S/390 and open systems platforms, will be used for a full range of IBM disk storage solutions. "Business requirements for high-performance storage solutions have been growing exponentially, swamping companies with volumes of data to manage, share, and exchange between S/390 and UNIX/NT platforms," said Andrew Hurter, business line manager, Large Systems Storage, of the IBM Storage Systems Division. "Our relationship with CNT is another stride toward meeting customers' needs for access to data in a networked world." According to Hudson, CNT's products provide several benefits to the customer including high-speed performance, preservation of data integrity over long distances, and the extraction of specific information from a database without the intermediate step of creating large files, as is traditional in today's data warehousing environments. "What may have taken eight hours in data movement in the past with conventional communications methods can now be performed in less than an hour," he noted. About The CNT Products FileSpeed is designed to quickly execute unattended bulk file/data transfers between S/390 and open servers with extraordinary data integrity, either interactively or through batch operations. The UltraNet Storage Gateway and the UltraNet Storage Multiplexer are both part of the UltraNet product family that CNT announced in September 1997 in support of its SAN strategic direction. The UltraNet Storage Gateway addresses bulk data movement between mainframes and open systems, and enables data mirroring over wide area networks (WANs). The UltraNet Storage Multiplexer allows multiple servers to share up to 15 storage devices, which enables multiple users access to information on a number of storage devices.
