Can anyone comment on the possibility that the reason for the sluggishness in ALTR and XLNX is a structural change in the margin potential (and therefore diminished profit margin potential)?? In other words are the recent announcements from Lucent on new FPGA technology and Clear Logic's ability to copy ALTR Flex 8000 family real threats to the great profitability that has existed in this niche category? Sorry if I have not portrayed this accurately but I am not an expert in the field. Are any of the board posters close enough to the industry to comment? Thanks.
