IMHO. >> PX, my thinking is that IF Intel wants Device Bay to succeed, they will incorporate 1394 support in the core chipset - just like USB. IF this happens: 1) There will never be much of a market for 1394 add in cards 2) SCSI and ATA devices will transition to 1394 3) Demand for SCSI host adaptors will dry up, killing Adaptec's cash cow.

Uh, no. I've been using 98 for about 2 weeks now, and I beg to differ. Let's take a hard look at what 98 actually offers above and beyond 95b, with commentary by yours truly. Note that you can download several add-ins for 95 that add much of the functionality and GUI features of 98. So here's what you can ONLY get from 98: 1. Multiple monitor support Oh, gee, we all need that. Let's all go out and buy another bulky monitor (which is already among the most expensive components of a PC) and another video board (don't forget to check it's multi-compatibility) so we can tie up yet more desk space to do ... what? Run another instance of After Dark? <g> 2. Television tuner What can I say? 3. Faster application loading and shutdown It does shut down faster. Load faster? Not from what I've seen. Worth a hundred bucks to shut down faster? Up to you. 4. Y2K compliance. I saved the best for last. The rest of the features are fluff, but I think THIS baby will sell Win98. What do you think?
