Here are highlights form the Big Pharma Report posted on AOL's Motley Fool Pfizer Bioard. Have a PFun Spring! BigKNY3 ______________________________________________________ Big Pharma Report- 3/21/98 Week Big Pharma increased 2.0% as compared to increases for the Dow (+3.9%), S&P (+4.1%) and the NAStie (+2.0%). With Viagra all over the media (WSJ, 20/20, and CNBC) and the V-Day countdown near single digits, PFE (+7.3%) was the star of Big Pharma this week. Big Pharma set an all-time sector high on Friday at 85.39 and has increased for 9 of the last 10 weeks. New highs were set for 5 Big Pharmas; PFE (92.25), SGP (82.25), MRK (132.38), PNU (44.13), and BMY (108.50). March Big Pharma (+5.0%) is keeping pace with the Dow (+4.2%), S&P (+4.8%) and is pulling ahead of the NAStie (+1.0%) Believe it or not PFE (+4.2%) is in the middle of the pack. With better positioning of Epogen in Medicaid, AMGN (+14.4%) is marching ahead. Other stars are: WLA (+11.5%), PNU (+10.4%), BMY (+8.4%) and SGP (+8.1%). AHP (-3.2%) is this month's laggard and still my least favorite Big Pharma. YTD 1998 Big Pharma (+19.5%) remains the hot sector in the market. In comparison, lower gains have been recorded for the record Dow (+12.6%), the record S&P (+13.2%), and the NASTie (+13.9%). SGP (#1 in 1997) is the Big Pharma "Bunny" leading again with a 32.4% increase. WLA (+31.4%) is right behind, followed by MRK (+24.4%). PFE (+23.7%) has moved up to fourth and is poised to make a run at the top. Reflecting concern about the early start of Evista, LLY is the only Big Pharma to show a YTD decline (-6.3%).
