To ALL IMES shareholders - This is the Committee, and what we are trying to do: (Page 1) Val Scott has been in the investment business for 16 years, beginning with Mother Merrill and including Oppenheimer, Pru, and the last 8 years on her own with her colleague, Gale Stephanic in a regional. She has broad experience in corporate cultures. The IMES story has been one that both she and Gale have known for nine years, and through a cordial relationship with George Smith. They know as much about the company as any outsider. Her commitment today is predicated on her clients' positions in the company, as well as her own family's. I have observed the determination that both Gale and Val constantly exhibit and the selfless drive with which they undertook this Crusade, and if you could have better or more commited representatives, I don't know who they might be. (If you know of any - we are looking!) I have been in the business rather longer(I'm older) and have mainly been international, institutional, and corporate finance in London and Wall Street. My membership in the AIMR (Association for Investment Management and Research) of 25 years has impressed upon me repeatedly the urgent requirement for ethical behavior in this industry, which added to my passionate distate for liars, cheats and thieves, gives me a major leg up in this drama. While I am no longer in the investment business, I maintain my connections, and I can still recognize certain profiles when I see them. I long ago lost any fear of treading where angels won't, and there's a need for that here. I share Val's determination to resist with all of the capacity that we can focus on the people and proceedures that in Texas, LA, NY, or London are universally rejected as representing unacceptable greed. You all seem to have some idea that you are being cheated, but some seem uncertain as to who the cheaters are. As this matter comes closer to a conclusion, I believe that for those of you still remain uncertain, various organizations that you all know about will make the distinctions very clear. In the meantime, our efforts re attorneys (2 so far, one just for Austin court appearances) is expensive, but we have the very much appreciated contributions of those of you who have given unreservedly. Thank you all again - all of you who have reached deep. We also have the invaluable assistance of an expert whom you know from this SI cite as Gary Stern. I would suggest that anyone who hasn't read or even studied his open letter to one of the players in this little drama, that you should go back and do so - again. This man, Gary Stern, is every bit as determined and professional as you could hope for, and brings a very acute specialist's knowledge to bear. There are others as well - there's Paul, and there's Don, and there's George and other names you'd recognize. Don't lose the faith now. We have a sufficiently wide opening to bring the harsh glare of truth to the fore, and with a little luck - maybe justice. Don't ever doubt that we continue discussions with financial and corporate interests that effectively dwarf the opposition's resources.
