hello all,

In listening to NPR this morn heard an interesting anecdote:

In 1850 there were 1 billion homo sapiens on planet;
This is when oil began to be discovered and usage expanded
dramatically.

Today there are ~6 billion. Oil reserves predicted to last
only to ~2040. At which time there will be no more oil to
be discoverd or available.

Is this a barometer which forewarns of the species' decline in the near future?

Has anyone studied the remarkable correlation between oil discovery and usage and the dramatic increase in humanity?

Are there specific references by Nost re this?
