A White Morning
or
In the Light of Day

The man dressed in gray snatched up his shield, no blazon flashed through through. Girt with heavy sword, undrawn, he rose to meet another entrant to the glade, where all stood. The foul creatures of the night had come and gone. The innocent frolicked, unaware of the small drama unfolding. The stranger held his ground, keeping the group huddled against each other, claiming safety before a tired looking farmer. The farmers worn hands and wrinkled mien failed to hide his goodness, though he was often confused and uncertain. His safety was His Lords. He stood with a small wooden cross at arms length. The group huddled behind him and Nancy cried to see the Crone in such great danger. Wise in the ways of the world she had been a true friend to Nancy. The new entrant to the glade was a powerful looking figure. Clearly his white robes shone forth, the tomes of his learning plain for all to see. Familiar he was, a member of the backbone of the Body. He contrasted starkly to the other cleric there already, also a familiar site in his dark Robes. The stranger in gray glanced at the brow of this new cleric. He turned to his companion, watch these people, and went to meet the Stranger.

The cleric attemtped to begin teaching as he shuffled the Letters around his great dexterity was evident.
The stranger confronted him. Halt, or I strike you where you stand. Are you blind man. This learned man beside us has said this old Crone is of Satan. Do ye not see these men gathered round in her protection. Do you see this sullen man standing over there, the grimace of shame upon his face, do ye know him. I will not question your letters and scrolls man but I will strike you where you stand if you don't put them away. Are you come here to settle for all the same issue as these people. A baffled fool are you if you think these people want your instruction on what is blasphemy. You have heard the accusation gainst this Old Crone, you see the accuser. Are you then the teacher and instructor of all here. Do not try and baffle me cleric or I will do as I claim, notwithstanding any grace claimed.

Greetings old friend. It has been... busy here.

A reading for the day, perchance? :

"You have heard that it was said to the men of old, 'You shall
not kill; and whoever kills shall be liable to judgement.' But
I say to you that every one who is angry with his brother shall
be liable to judgement; whoever insults his brother shall be
liable to the council, and whoever says, 'You fool!' shall be
liable to the hell of fire."
Matthew 4:21-22
