Jim,

I always support your views regarding Cannivino's role in Apple
because I clearly see how much impact from IBM on Apple's future and
the trend is continuing. IBM allowing Jobs to demo 400mhz PPC chip
can tell some trace of negotiation between IBM and Apple. Cannivino
was probably involved in such negotiation. As I stated before,
Apple's IBM's subsidiary company if viewing from certain angle.
Jobs has been certainly the best CEO candidate since he appointed his
ex-NeXTers at several key positions last year. Now, he has more
bargaining chips at hands to talk the position seriously. I agree
the BOD are smart enough to retain Cannivino in case the negotiation
is broken between Jobs and BOD. However, Jobs cannot ignore
Cannivino's background support - IBM. It's like small fish eats
shrimp, and eventually big fish will swallow the small fish.

It's likely Cannivino will be part of Apple, the possible position
could be one of BOD, or even the Chairman of BOD, if Cannivino really
carries the mission from IBM and totally complies with IBM's
strategic plans on PPC's future prospect.
