Great post George E!

Its nice to stop holding hands and singing Kum-by-Ya (butchered the spelling).

Some people(s) have been very adamant at getting out of this stock for the past 2 months at any cost (driving it down from $2.50 to 1.75 or lower).. even though there is theoretically a huge gain on the horizon (a $10+ buyout price within a year) That's giving up a 400% return. I dont know what the reasons and I doubt anyone here does.. just seems strange.

Mark

George, I sense that there was a good bit of frustration talking in your post and if so then don't feel like your alone on that front. I don't think that ALL of the selling has been or ever will be explained, but I do feel that the important bulk of our selling has been explained to my satisfaction and that when these sellers are truly done that through the increase in DCTC we will have proof of that explanation. I am not sure I agree with you that the sellers know a lot about DCI, why would this have to be the case? The facts supporting the conclusion that it has been the CC shares being sold seem to add up to me:

1. First this block of shares which were freed up right after the SMTK deal were large enough to create the amount of selling we have endured.

2. The timing of our drop vs. the completion of the SMTK deal coincides exactly.

3. We have had reports (contained within posts on SI) confirming large numbers of shares from that group being sold.

I agree that the stock buyback and stock dividend were expected to have a positive influence on the stock and if our sellers had not started taking advantage of the buyback that we would have stayed at a higher level or moved up. I think it was a wise move by management when it was evident that there was still a big seller, to let the stock price fall to a lower level before supporting it. I doubt that there is anyone more frustrated by the current stock price than Joe Murphy himself but some situations such as this one require time and patience to get through and I think this will be the case.

James

Dear George:
Who's dancing?Good hard questions that I'll be damned that
I don't know the answer(s).Yes a higher share price helps in any M&A
situation but since we don't have that option "we" have to use our
talents to get the job done anyway------so we use "calls" in our
agreements---the right to buy back the stock in the immediate
future --how can we do that??------We have one of the most undervalued(I know I use that word often--in this case I control it)
Balance Sheets I have ever seen----what???---SMTK stock--------
if sold the other day would have yielded $5,000,000 in aftertax
(due to loss carryforward)profit-------Muller Media(we never speak
of them for fear of upsetting our investment banking community, who have never met a payroll in their life) whose library of films is vastly
undervalued(their I go again) ---we own over 200 films!!!!--carried at zero cost on our B/S!!! combine these two and now you know
(something we haven't explained before---taboooo) what some IB's
NOW know and why they are so anxious to back us now. What
we want to extract from them is institutional backing and research
reports on us NOW.We have some explosive (IMO--don't want to
upset some folks with that word) information coming out(no hype --
I don't want anyone to buy on that---wait for it to come out and judge
for yourselves) .Some IB's want their" pound of flesh" out of us
--at this price level -and we won't do it!Ergo because we have
such a B/S thats why companies are willing to join forces with us
despite our undervalued(their I go again)stock price.My Masters
degree thesis was about leveraged leasing-----the forerunner of LBO's
---DCI's B/S is unleveraged therefore we have the capability and are
ready to use it to our advantage now.
I say again I don't know why "they" are selling but "I" ain't---and their is no mystery to that

Great post George.........

I wounder how big a role Candian card call has played in the selling and How long Joe M might have know.............Just thinking aloud, who else would have enough stock up there to be selling for months.
