Craig,

About that Barron's article. Avalon, a analyst firm out of Florida, is the entity that says CIEN is a great short. You'll love the reason:

According to Avalon, CIEN's products are simply TOO good. That being the case, CIEN will meet all of the demand with its exceptional products and there will be nothing left to sell by 1999.

So much for the doubling of bandwidth demand every 3.6 months. More to the point, this just takes the cake:

It isn't enough that stocks are tanking because of product problems (ASND's TNT in the past) or inventory problems and product transition (CPQ and COMS). Now, we've got a stock (CIEN) that is supposedly a worthy short because its product is just too good. Ain't that the darndest!

OFF TOPIC: Craig - Pretty cool Smart Money article featuring you and Silicon Investor this month. I know you referred to it a while ago, so when I got my issue yesterday, I scanned through the small columns at the beginning of the issue, figuring there would be a small blurb mentioning you. No way did I except a full feature article with your picture splashed across the table of contents! Congratulations!

I've been meaning to ask you: when Ciena was running into trouble a few weeks ago, you said you sold your holdings and put them into yahoo for the upcoming short squeeze, also expecting AOL and AMZN to spurt upwards. Another great call. I got burned since I sold calls on AOL a couple of months ago. How did you know????
