Hank, yeah, we sort of went off on a tangent there. After all, this is the ZONA thread, not the APA psychopharmacology board. As to your question "explain to me why you think Vasomax will or will not be approved in the US." At this point, I don't have a sway one way or the other. On the positive side, phentolamine has been used effectively for the treatment of ED as an injection, most of the time as a combination with another medication. The evidence that I have seen about the trials of oral phentolamine (Vasomax) definitely leans toward the hypothesis that it is effective. It also seems to be well tolerated. On the negative side, the evidence that the oral formulation is effective is not strong. Also, there is the question as to whether or not an oral form of phentolamine is patentable and unique enough to be approved. The most concerning negative piece of evidence, IMO, is that ZONA is has not filed an NDA yet. From an MD's view of the world, I would like to see Vasomax approved (providing that it is safe, which it appears to be).
