Katherine - Nice reference to Craftsman - my type of humor.

Do you have any opinion as to how far off XRay Lithography is from having any sales significance to suppliers of equipment? Are you familiar with JMAR, which has been developing something in this area for the last 10 years using funding from DARPA?

On the higher end mask makers, I thought the secular(?) trend toward more masks because of more complicated chip designs and the rapidly rising mask prices for smaller feature sizes (as noted in a recent post), and the interesting observation that MU is dealing with difficult times by pushing faster to smaller feature sizes, should insure steady sales growth for these guys, almost independent of the cyclical nature of the basic chip business. Is that a reasonable
core investment thesis in your opinion?

K.D. Most Useful... We had been concentrating on two facets-- Increasing complexity of chip designs, and increasing unit volumes -- as determinants of increasing revenues for the photomask suppliers. It is clear from your reply that we should have been giving proper weight to the NUMBER of designs as well.... Perhaps one does not need highly complex designs, and very expensive masks, to ensure rapidly increasing revenue growth ( if I am interpreting your emphasis properly) Thank you kindly for straightening that out for me..
New subject: Meanwhile, virtually all my techs are trending nicely upwards..VECO, VTSS, ORBI, CTEC, TER...etc, except for a little instrument company, LTXX, and DPMI... and no volume on DPMI. Anyone have any thoughts???? TSO
