Alex, et al... I am preparing pre-NAB meetings and showcases for in house engineering personnel. My interest in compression has landed me a seat on the advisory panel for GEnesis (DTV) and compression projects. We find the available hardware unimpressive at this point and are looking for greater capacities in storage and compression. Compression destroys picture quality. We are looking for a trade off between compression and quality. I may be pressed into NAB attendance at the last moment. We will provide the best possible picture to the affiliates. What they do with it after that is their decision. THIS IS A POLITICAL DECISION THAT HAS YET TO BE ANNOUNCE.... We, (the engineering staff) don't know what formats will be available but are designing systems for HDTV and beyond. ( I personally like interlaced scanning.) Of course we will be looking at Innovacom. (KOZ & Co. be nice to Charlie Jablonski .....) I also see the price as a buying opportunity. But it is sort of unnerving watching the price stay low..... Monday or Tuesday should be another drop in price since I plan to buy a few K more shares. I need a new van or 4x4 this summer...... hope MPEG can help... Later, GEorge
