Brian - Re: "When are you going to quit masquerading as an AMD investor and admit your true colours ?" When are you, Brian, going to quit masquerading as an AMD investor and admit your true colours ? In December or January or so you stated that you owned no AMD stock - just some options that were near expiration. I don't recall any testimonial posts about you purchasing AMD stock - so please post your holdings before you accuse me of doing precisely what you are doing. Re: "due to Intel's price pressuring with Pentium mmx . Intel has pushed the K6 -233 down to a price where Compaq can afford to use it in their lower price models . That is also the reason why PII has not sold as well as Intel thought ." Actually, this seems to have been enormously difficult for you - you start off yakking about Pentium MMX price reductions and then shift into a time warp and end up yakking about the Pentium II - how, where and why did you make that leap - switching processors-under-discussion? Re: "It has nothing to do with superior design , in fact if you take away the high speed external bus on PII , what do you get ? A design that is questionable .." Sure seems to have you mightily worried! Let's look at the Pentium Pro/Pentium II/Deschutes design. It has been scaled from a 0.6 micron process with 150 MHz speeds to 0.35 micron/300 MHz speeds to 0.25 microns and 450 MHz clock speeds. I'd call that a robust, high performance design - capable of dramatically increased performance with improved technology. Now on the other hand, we have the K6 which ran at 200 MHz on a 0.35 micron process, required a VOLTAGE JACK-UP to 3.3 volts to get to 233 MHz at the same 0.35 micron process, and now AMD has been able to RAMP it all the way up to a WHOPPING 266 MHz on a brand new spit-and-polished 0.25 micron process. Now I call that a robust design - and I'm sure you overwhelmingly can agree with me on that - can't you! 266 Mhz K6 - Wowie Zowie! A design to beat all comers! Paul
