April and first quarter earnings expectations: During the next few weeks earnings plays will have to focus on industries whose first quarter estimates were NOT cut by analysts. Expect to have oil service and equipment sector to join the computer and telecom industries as companies that have their first quarter estimates cut: What do we do? Easy..... Earnings plays in April will include financial services, multi-line insurers, home builders and manufactured housing, software and computer services, practically the entire retail sector, and airlines. I'm already compiling a list of April Winners amidst the losers.
