Kenneth and Gregor. don't go there. At least 10 of them posting right now are from a thread so blasphemous I would not refer you to see for yourself. Many of the posts are filthy.

Don't go there. There is nothing to be added there. I must stop
even looking at the thread for awhile. I'm just glad you haven't been seen there too much. I don't even mention this thread except in private posts for that reason.

Dearest Brother Gregor, whom I count among only a handful of my spiritual mentors, we do not disagree, based on your last post. I strongly suspect that it is indeed true that Jesus is the only way to heaven. I act on that assumption myself. However I also pray fervently that it is not the case (your other proposition is a chimera; no human has ever gone through life without sin, our Lord aside) because it is too horrible to contemplate. If true, many people who I love and cherish are not going to be there in heaven. I include among them my earthly father, a wonderful man who I loved dearly, and who died last year.

I will be quite happy if, when I approach the pearly gates, St. Pete steps out and says, "c'mon in! It's open to everyone. We actually don't care if you're saved or not, that whole Hell thing was just a ruse to keep everybody in line." Alas, I don't expect that. I just hope for it.

Wm. Buckley recently quoted a clergyman who had been asked how it could possibly be just that a recently deceased man, a kind and decent fellow but unsaved, would not go to heaven. His reply: "If it is indeed just that he go to heaven, you can rest assured that he will be there".

If I knew of a stock-picking strategy which consistently paid off, and didn't know if any other strategy would work or not, and only had one shot, I would of course use the strategy I knew would work. Doubly so if everything I had was at stake. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

BTW, not the first time I've heard the illustration of Christ as heavenly lawyer. Comforting.

In Christ, Ken.
