"...I will get a price in Toronto for a MAC and then post a price for a similar screwdriver shop clone based on MHZ , RAM=, Drive Meg= screen size=. The only thing I will not get a SCSI drive, as they are far more expensive on WIntels as it takes a card and Mac do it with board parts. Although I can get A Jap SCSI card for $35, SUMO card. Not fast and wide, but equal to MAC(is it, is Mac fast and wide?)"

Bill,

The idea is to price systems with similar performance. See if you can build a PC with performance equivalent to a 300MHz G3 at any price. Don't make the mistake of assuming that a 300MHz Pentium II is equivalent. It's not. The simple fact is that the notion that Macs are much more expensive than equivalent PCs is hogwash. See: mackido.com.

As I said in a previous post, I work on a PC all day, five days a week. I am well acquainted with the platform. It is inferior to the Mac in almost every way_and the performance gap is rapidly becoming a yawning chasm.

Bill,

Macs have 2 SCSI drives, one fast (5MB/sec) one slow (?). Fast Wide is an option on the new ones.
