same response. cpq is a franchise company in this arena. whether the market is up or down, business and individuals will still use computers and will update them to keep up with technology. too many people today zero in on the market as a whole rather than individual companies. it's been easy todo given the current economic situation. real money can be made in a down market by sticking with the category leaders. i believe a lot of people will get hit real hard if the "market" turns because they are on margin. they haven't seen anything near the downside of 73-74. margin wiped out many during that time. on the other hand, real fortunes were mad by those who quietly bought and held the franchise players-ko ge bmy mrk jj to name a few. not exciting but just calculate the value of your estate if you just had 10k in each stock and never bought another share of stock in any company. i liken the comments on these threads to the weekend investor at tahoe or vegas. i have always thought of investing as a process rather than an event. results haven't been too bad!
