Ted "useful" life is a subjective term within limits. Look at Waste Management -among other things they overestimated the useful life of their garbage trucks. The Koreans write down their equipment more rapidly which pressures profits ( higher depreciation expense). It is relevant because it is often said that Micron is the lowest cost producer of Dram-this may or may not be the case.
