The company based in Toronto who are interested in buying AUI is a private one who need to get a public company. Apparently one of the owner is a lawyer who has done work for WPC in the past. And maybe still is...

I'm not sure, it would have been the same if we didn't have to live the Bre-X scandal, the Ste-Genevieve saga and the price of gold. They're been to many factors happening in the last year which is affecting the mining market.

Wpc will need cash to develop Salomons Island, money is suppose to start coming in with the Chili project this summer. If more is needed a good way to get it might mean to sell AUI but not at any price...

Let's wait and see...
