to know japan you need patience. when the japanese do things they do them intensely. the turnaround has started--there is more open skies, more open ports, financial deregulation STARTING and the banks are being stabilized. all the suicides and arrests point to a final crumbling of the old managed economy. however, it will take the a critical mass of the culture to stand behind this deregulation for the blast off to occur. it has started. my adivice would be to wait till after april (after the big bang has started). then, when you hear ANY serious talk of LONG term tax cuts with continued deregulation--start to dollar cost average in to the market by choosing industry leaders. the bottom could last 6 more months--and we could still see 14K-15K but this is the bottom. key point: you don't want to be in a one year bottom when the u.s. and europe are growing. personally i wll start adding SLOWLY in may-june and add a bit at a time until i am CONVINCED the politicians and bureacrats have taken their oily hands off of the economy.
