Alan, welcome to the Feelings thread, and thanks for sharing your opinions about censorship with us. Unfortunately, I am not sure I really understand what you are saying, however. Perhaps you could post again and clarify what you mean.

For example, are you saying that James Flynn should have been removed from SI because he wrote an anti-Christian poem?

Boundaries? Who decides what the boundaries are?

Whey you say that freedom is based on morality, are you saying that freedom of speech ends when you become offensive? Who decides what is offensive, anyway?

And what does "Have a good day, Nancy" mean? Are you really Nancy? Or who is Nancy?

The Ask God thread has indeed been turned into a battleground at times. A long time ago, I myself went over there to express my feelings, and I am tempted to do it again! But I personally think that is healthy, not hateful. Are you saying that only conservative Christians should be allowed to post at Ask God? I must say in all fairness, that there are quite a few negative remarks made over there about agnostics, atheists, pagans and Buddhists, all of whom are lovely people. Why should it be a place where hateful venom by Christians is acceptable, but no one else is free to comment in return? Are the Christians so insecure in their own belief systems that their concepts cannot bear close scrutiny?

Sorry to just be asking more questions, but I think this could be a more interesting discussion if I understood exactly what you were saying.

Christine
