Thanks for representing the thread by planning to attend the conference. Wish I could , but am too far from B.C. Nothing is better than some first hand information.
I would like to draw your attention to post #492 by Mr. Jacobs. It seems that it has already been decided about the manufacturing aspect of the FAST1.

Manufacturing something like this is as simple as running your computer,,
An order to a vendor to supply a million needles ,,another to supply the package,,,You send the prints and your requirements to each vendor with a time required Venders will be nocking on your door ,and set up an assembly line ,to do final asm,,and away you go ,
,something like this does not have that many parts to be a huge challenge
Shipping and receiving and marketing are the biggest challenge
