Oh. Thank you for enlightening me. I had no idea. I thought it was all about emulating Jesus, and following his example. Of course it goes without saying that there wouldn't be too many of those kind of Christians here because we all know about how it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle....

The sad thing about your post is that you are exactly right.
The many many hours Jane et al. are spending typing away at all these scriptures and viciously arguing about every tittle and dot with each other or heaping burning coals upon the "pagan" heads on threads in what they know to be an exercise in futility, could be employed far more productively in the real world. There is a rotting smell of holier than thou permeating their words. Let faith beget works rather than futile verbosity and strife.
(I exclude Shalom from any of these comments as I respect and trust him, as a person and a Christian.)

Referencing your comment about the dark alley, there are many manifestations of Christian charity. The one you describe is, I think, the "Just-Because-I-Want-to-Kill-You-Doesn't-Mean-I-Don't-Love-You" methodology.
