I regret I am unable to provide you with the sources of information you want regarding "MYSTICAL LIFE OF JESUS" written by Dr. Harvey Spencer Lewis. I read the book about way back in 1972 and, to be honest, I have forgotten quite a number of things. I think your best bet is the Rosicrucian Order (AMORC) that first published the book in the 1930s. Their address is given at rosicrucian.org, a non-sectarian, non-religious and, definitely a NON-SATANIC organization!!! In fact, they do not discourage their members from reading the Bible. I find they are very open-minded about lots of things. This is a far cry from certain groups and individuals who would denounce others as "satanic" and whatnot if they do not accept Jesus as he is presented in the Bible. Little do these intolerant folks realize, how the Bible was put together in the first place, that the God in the Old Testament was a highly vengeful God whereas the God in the New Testament preached love, kindness, forgiveness, mercy, turning the other cheek and non-violence. I think this has, in some ways, contributed to a lot of the permissiveness and indiscipline which are mainly responsible for much of the social problems of modern society! There is a saying, "Spare the Rod and Spoil the Child"! It seems the rod has been spared too many times. In Canada, for example, rapists, murderers and pedophiles are let out too soon from imprisonment in the name of love and kindness and rehabilitation back into society. Students in schools are allowed to get away with o' so many things that would make one's blood boil. (In Canada, there is that Young Offenders Act to protect them). Many teachers have been asked by parents and others to lower standards for the sake of, amongst other things, not "scarring for life the psyches" of the students. I suppose, according to your thinking, Satan has been damned good at causing all this to happen, eh? I guess BEELZEEBUB might cry out, "Why am I the scapegoat everytime? Why is everybody picking on me?" To me, what is closer to the truth is that our modern day experiments in social engineering have gone awry and we have allowed too many psychologists to make bogus livings. This is a case of Cause and Effect, as night follows day, eh? Have you ever realized that the Bible has been, in a way, responsible for inculcating CONCEIT in a good number of individuals. How and why? Those who are told they are SAVED tend to despise the "UNSAVED" as infidels and unclean and whatnot. This may not apply to you, but I know it does apply to lots of the"I-am-saved" and the "I-am- holier-than-thou folks. This was certainly true in the days of yore. And this belief had even caused one military commander in history (Simon de Monfort) to issue an order to wipe out all the Cathars in southern France. When his deputies said, "But our own people among them (spies and infiltrators dressed like the Cathars) will also be killed." Back came the reply, "It's all right! God will recognize his own.........." By the way, a zealous Christian tried teaching chemistry in a novel way when she drew a parallel between METALS and NON-METALS in the Periodic Table with SAVED and UNSAVED!!! When asked why she did this, she simply said that she was "killing two birds with one stone", meaning she was teaching chemistry and proselytizing at the same time and that it would help her students make the connection(s) and remember the lesson(s) better. But her School Board of Education warned her to leave religion out of her classroom.
