The wisdom of buying high to make more money? P/E ratio is too high; buy something still cheap. Common sense tells you to buy cheap and sell high. But nobody but nobody, will tell you to buy high and sell it even higher.

Why not? The good stock like Microsoft just goes higher and higher. Why? Microsoft got a franchise(the only one in town except Unix), if you asked Mario Gabelli. You buy it you don't want to sell it, unless you have personal needs.

Some small company may have the same opportunities someday. We are all searching for that winning lottery ticket. You have to see a big cap opportunity, then you have to see a program to achieve it in the long run. Some venture capitalists only think that way. They bring in the best management right after they invest in your company. They bring in other venture capitalists to share the risk and extend their cash pool to insure success.

A small investor can do it too. By being a proactive stockholder. Talk to the management on their chance of growing to a large cap. And set a course for the management to follow. Pick a few company and try it. We started with AMES and have a few other companies to follow AMES, such as SEMI. CCUR is on its way but finding its way in VOD technology advancement puzzle is not solved, yet. MSEL lost its way in marketing principles. TELV still runs like a private company. STRR is consolidating after acquisition, but the technology is in their favour from now on.
