If they could get all the national governments to mint a coin of each country, so it would be real money and not just a franklin mint over valued junker this would win.

Obviously they would only sell for spot if made as non monetary coin. But as a national coinage they would be collectable and a one time event. To get all countries you would need to get all the UN countries to come on board and even those with no money could mint some and sell them as part of all country collections and get a commission. With some 88 countries at 1 ounce per coin it would suck of a lot of gold. A thousand tons would make 24 million coins, and I bet they would sell a few thousand tons worth globally. A one time national coin for each country, via the UN? Make a silver one too.

How many would buy a set of 88+, not me, but some would and many would buy more than 1.

I suspect it might work if it can be made real money.
