Hi Toy Soldier,

Actually, I've made money on most of my NOVL trades. It's basically my opinion that the whole market has their heads in the clouds at present. Not just about NOVL. The ability of investors to totally ignore bad news and it's potential impact on the price of the stock they are buying at all time highs amazes me. NOVL is not unique in that respect. I just happen to follow it more closely than some others.

I've noticed that you tend to be one of the most bullish folks on the thread, yet you've posted that you don't own the stock. At a certain point I guess I have to start wondering why. If it's a full blown turn around, and there isn't any bad news, and it's going to go up forever, and the competition doesn't matter, why not pick up a few shares? Or at least share your opinion of what price you're waiting for to start a position.

Regards,

Don

"contrary to Paul's statistics, IDC statistics that I have heard

are the Notes seats are in first followed by GroupWise then Exchange (although I am sure Exchange is closing the gap)."

How about just showing us the statistics?

========================
The ones I published from CRN are based upon the channel and what VAR's are selling. Since Novell has big and small VARS and I presume direct sales, overall statistics might be different.

So how about just showing us the statistics?

<<I do understand that NOVL still has many obsticles to jump but I have known NOVL since 1986 and I tell you, I haven't seen NOVL's future as rosy as this in 3 years. There is some good things about NOVL too. Just an editorial observation.>>

Looking at a very basic OSI Network Layers chart -

Application - 7
Presentation - 6
Session - 5
Transport - 4
Network - 3
Datalink - 2
Physical - 1

Wouldn't the fact that a robust Netware 5.0, that is going truly native IP, allow it to be valuable additionally as a type of software-based router (or switching software for open hardware) down at the lower levels of OSI ? ToySoldier is one of the few posters lately who have actually shared technical networking expertise (thanks). Any comment/opinion from a current poster or networking lurker would be appreciated.
