Most people accept that AMD is helping Compaq and IBM which is why these two won't let AMD die. I contend that AMD is helping create a glut of chips which in turn results in a glut of PCs which in turn results is lower (not higher) margins for all pc makers including Compaq. The bad old days sure seemed to create alot of profits for the box makers.
