Payers, providers, suppliers, manufacturers, regulators, etc. are all welcome subject to space limitations. The non-profit Rx2000 Solutions Institute has received many requests to coordinate a national/international forum for bringing together healthcare's "people in the Y2k trenches". The generic Y2k SIGs that many of us participate in are helpful with regards to generic Y2k issues. However, healthcare also has its own set of unique Y2k issues, many of them directly related to quality of care. We don't have enough time or resources to re-invent the wheel or duplicate others' mistakes. We need to learn from and help each other. As a means of sharing healthcare Y2k information, this SIG will complement the current web site and list server provided by Rx2000. It will allow direct one-on-one and group discussion, brainstorming, and information sharing. A key topic for this meeting will be the creation of a shared healthcare year 2000 products database that will benefit all of us. The database is designed to contain information about test processes and test results for medical devices, software products, and other products used within the healthcare industry. Additional topics are being reviewed, and your suggestions are very welcome. No long presentations, no vendor show, no sales pitches. This is intended to be a working session with your peers. Vendors are invited to attend and share their experience, but any overt sales activities will result in their not being permitted to attend future meetings. Attendees at this meeting will set the direction, topics, locations, and approaches for future meetings. Future meetings may be face-to-face, teleconferences, or some combination of both. Space is limited, so please respond ASAP to reserve your place.
